Feeling anxious or fearful at the dentist is common among patients of all ages. Although there are very valid fears related to the smell, noise or close interaction that can affect many patients, one of the key reasons for dental anxiety among adults is a bad experience at the dentist when they were young. Dr. Miller and the team at Pediatric Dentistry of Winter Park make every effort to help our young patients enjoy their dental visits. We want our young patients to feel comfortable and relaxed in the dentist chair, laying the foundation for a lifetime of healthy habits that include regular dental care.
Special Needs Patients
Dr. Miller welcomes children and adolescents with special needs that may make it difficult for them to receive the dental care they need in a traditional manner and setting. Our team works with the patient and parent or caregiver to incorporate dental sedation or perform a dental cleaning or treatment in a manner that is not stress-inducing. Dr. Miller has experience working with special needs children and can provide recommendations for helping your child maintain good oral health between visits.
Dental Sedation for Children
If a young patient is suffering from anxiety that is not able to be addressed with age-appropriate patient education, we offer dental sedation options. Dr. Miller will discuss your child’ overall health history and make a recommendation for dental sedation that will meet their needs in a safe and effective manner. We offer:
- Oral sedation
- Nitrous Oxide
- IV sedation, under the care of a pediatric anesthesiologist
